Tony Webster and his clique first met Adrian Finn at school. Sex-hungry and book-hungry, they would navigate the girl-less sixth form together, trading in affectations, in-jokes, rumour and wit. Maybe Adrian was a little more serious than the others, certainly more intelligent, but they all swore to stay friends for life.
Now Tony is in middle age. He's had a career and a single marriage, a calm divorce. He's certainly never tried to hurt anybody. Memory, though, is imperfect. It can always throw up surprises, as a lawyer's letter is about to prove.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
This book tagged along purely to keep the other one company. It is a long way from Australia after all. Now they each have something to read on the journey.
Thank you for the great surprise. It was a long trip so, yes, I guess they needed the company :)

A story of a rather mundane life with a little twist at the end. A bit too much philosophising for my taste.

Happy reading :)
Gratefully received from the Wishlist tag games alongside 2 other bonuses. Thank you so much keeta1!
Reserved for the OZ VBB.
I’m really enjoying this so far. As I approach my own 50th birthday I’m becoming more contemplative of aging and what life is all about. This is my first Julian Barnes novel and I shall seek out more.
On finishing this book, I want to read it again straight away. How clever. The longer I reflect on it, the more I like it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
To the finder of this book:
Hello and congratulations! You have not only found yourself a good book, but a whole community of booklovers dedicated to sharing books with each other and the world at large. I hope you'll stick around a bit and get to know BookCrossing --maybe even make a journal entry on this book. You may choose to remain anonymous or to join (its free!)
Feel free to read and keep this book, or to pass it on to a friend or even set it out "in the wild" for someone else to find like you did. If you do choose to join and journal, then you can watch the book as it travels- You'll be alerted by email each time someone makes another journal entry. It's all confidential (you're known only by your screen name and no one is ever given your e-mail address), free, and spam-free. Happy reading!
Although I haven’t quite finished this book I decided to borrow an ebook copy and leave this copy at the little library in the donor centre after donating blood. I find that most plasma donors read a book when donating so hopefully it will find a new reader here. It’s a well-labelled copy so perhaps it will introduce someone to BookCrossing. I’ll check back at my next donation to see if it has moved on.
