A Touch of the Grape
3 journalers for this copy...
With upstate New York in a tourist slump, Sarah and Meg Quilliam are desperate to keep their inn running. But their only guests are "The Crafty Ladies" -- a group of middle-aged artists who make art out of recyclables. But their creative flow is interrupted when one of the ladies is killed in a fire at the inn -- and another soon after. Now Sarah and Meg are really desperate. After all, murder's not good for business.

One of the few BC books on the shelves of the Melbourne Central little library. This is one of the many cozies I have read. Cozy mysteries are a subgenre of crime fiction in which sex and violence occur off stage, the detective is an amateur sleuth, and the crime and detection take place in a small, socially intimate community. Cozies thus stand in contrast to hardboiled fiction, which features violence and sexuality more explicitly and centrally to the plot. They provide for me a relaxing little mystery among my more serious or violent books.

I have read many cozy mysteries, some better than others, some in UK, some in USA but all interesting enough. However, this one was jumbled so it was hard to sift the relevant stuff from the women's lit.
