...And other West African Stories.

A collection of folktales [mostly Ashanti ] told simply, directly and with beauty” Library Journal

Hey quick, and enjoyable read. Definitely going in the indigenous bookbox, possibly as a journal book.

Note: even though I use the ISBN to register the book, it came up with a different addition not only a different cover but in a different number of pages.

I'm claiming this book from the Indigenous Peoples bookbox; the bookbox journal with the list of books taken and replaced is here. I chose it in part for the catchy title, and in part for the charming illustrations inside.

Later: Lovely mix of tales from different West African peoples, ranging from trickster plots to "just-so"-type stories to fables about custom and tradition. The illustrations enhance each tale, and the end notes explaining the origins and derivations of the various stories were also quite fascinating.
