Hmmm, Dan Brown set himself up with DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons. Really loved those books, but Deception Point and Digital Fortress were lacking. Guess that's what happens when you read books in reverse order (though I liked Angels & Demons even better than DaVinci Code). Obviously his writing is getting better, more engaging.

This one is a CIA type conspiracy thriller set in the Arctic. Characters weren't bad, but it was a little predictable.

Not as good as The Da Vinci Code but a page turner nonetheless.

Unfortunately, the basic premise of this book, that NASA is a total waste of taxpayer's money, is incorrect. Every dollar spent on NASA has returned itself multiple times through the advances in technology that are a side benefit of the space program. OK, I'm jumping off the soapbox.

Deception point is a gripping page -turner that I had difficulty putting down. The politics and technology are interesting to say the least. Bit by bit, the main characters piece together the story of an elaborate deception, meant to fool the American public into believing in NASA again. Unfortunately, we have had ample proof that elaborate deceptions are not neccessary to fool the average American. The little bit of a love story seems tacked on in afterthought. Brown should have explored it more or left it out entirely.

A good piece of brain candy with enough technological mumbo-jumbo to entertain the thinker.

I will be releasing this book to one of my coworkers.

I really liked Angels and Deamons and DaVinci Code better--but I think that is because I leared more from them (being in the science field, I knew a lot of the information already). However, if you are interested in science, especially geology and you like Dan Brown, then this is a good book for you!
