Wham! George & Me

Picked up from Kingston Seymour telephone box library. A colleague once said to me “you must be sad about George Michael dying,” I was but not as much as Bowie.
I’m just going to read this and see how I get on. We played a lot of Wham in my first job at Debenhams in the music/record dept

I just about remember Wham! from my childhood. I imagine we’ve all heard Last Christmas one too many times and lusted after the Saas-Fee in Switzerland. This book was a really easy read and interspersed with lots of photographs. Andy and George went to school together and in turn grew up together. Their first lesson when Andy was asked to take care of Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou (Greek) to meeting girls to George coming out as gay/bi and to Band Aid. Andy reflects on the life they shared together and how he could see his friend take to fame as a solo megastar at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert.
So sad George passed away aged only 53 in 2016.
A lovely insight into Wham! the band, the backing vocalists, concerts and albums. As a Queen fan it was lovely to hear of how Andy and George were at the 1977 Earls Court gig. How Andy compared George to on par with Freddie.
A nostalgic read
