Set in Sicily, a young woman from a poor family is kidnapped and Chief Inspector Montalbano is called back from sick leave to help on the case. The family seem unlikely targets for a kidnapping as they are well known to have lost all their money several years before. It took me a while to get into this but it was worth persisting as there's a dry humour in there which made it worth reading even though the ending is fairly predictable. Will look out for more of these.
