A friend has a sort out and passed me a big box of books to read and bookcross :)

One of those authors that I've tried in the past, but wasn't too impressed with, so never explored more. But it can't have been a Rebus story, otherwise I think I would have thought differently, as I really enjoyed this collection featuring the Scottish detective. It's hard to bring a real sense of mystery to a short story, as there's not time to build up much of a premise, but Rankin pretty much manages it in every story. Yes, some are a tad obvious, but others aren't and I enjoyed more than a few 'Huh!' moments.

A good read and I'll definitely try some of the full length Rebus books now.
