Carnegie's Maid

This is an imagined story about how Andrew Carnegie became inspired to become the first philanthropist of his time. Clara, a recent immigrant, lands an unexpected job with the Carnegie family. I really liked her character and her survival story made for an interesting book.

Sending this book out as part of the 2020 HGG today. Merry Christmas and Happy 2021!

Thank you for the wishlist book, Carnegie's Maid by Marie Benedict, the lovely card and bookmark! I love the Happy Bookmas sentiment!

Marie Benedict writes the stories of 'hidden women' throughout history. Most are historical figures, however this woman (Clara Kelley) is a supposition on Benedict's part.
This was a good story and there's a lot of history in it.
