This book tells the true story of Zac Easter, a young man from Iowa whose life centered around football. Because of all the hits he took from the time he was a little boy through high school, he developed what is now known as CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy), a disease caused by brain damage. Although he tried to tough it out, Zac could no longer take the pain he was experiencing, and committed suicide in his early 20’s.
In addition to Zac’s story, the book gives a general history of football and how it has developed over the years due to safety concerns. It asks the question, "What price is our society willing to pay in order to continue to have this much-loved sport as part of our lives?"
