Over the course of an eventful summer, biracial Emi finds an identity for herself apart from the gang of geeks at school. Story by Mariko Tamaki with art by Steve Rolston.

Monday, November 09, 2020: this book is headed for New York by media mail.

I didn't join the lesbian fiction sweeps because I didn't want to pay international postage, but since I have addresses for the US participants, I thought I'd send something just because. The main character is not a lesbian, that's more of a subplot, but I thought you might enjoy this anyway. :)

Thank you so much for the wonderful surprise! I brought it in from the mailbox Tuesday, but didn’t open it until the next day. I promptly started reading it, and ended up finishing it it on my lunch break.

I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing it with me! I haven’t read much under this imprint (I actually think Minx might have folded awhile ago) but it was really nice to see a comic aimed at an adult/older teen women audience. I find that rare.

The art style is definitely a product of its time, and the trendy styling will probably date the comic quickly. However, I think it also acts as a way to firmly set some of the place and time of the story.
