Fforde has the most amazing imagination and has created a fabulous world in which people hibernate through the severe winters. Everyone wants to gain rights to be entitled to the drug Morphenox, which makes you more likely to survive hibernation, and Charlie Worthing is no exception - so he's prepared to take the terrible risk of becoming a novice Winter Consul. But Morphenox comes with its own hazards: some people wake up as mindless nightwalkers and are 'parted out' as replacement body parts. With a fast-moving plot with a couple of twists, and a few laugh-out-loud moments, and this definitely doesn't disappoint.
