I got this softcover from an online seller mainly on the strength of the title - "Xeme" is a variety of seagull.

The poems here touch on a variety of subjects, and range from exotic/surreal to slice-of-life (including a snippet about a mildly-irksome customer at a public library). Among my favorite bits: from "The Visionary Corncrib," the lines "It is true I am scared. I am like a cat I hate to move. A new house is like new shoes"; and "Vesuvius" - which includes a quote from an Emily Dickinson letter that I hadn't heard before: “Vesuvius don’t talk, Etna don’t. They said a syllable, one of them, a thousand years ago and Pompeii heard it and hid forever”.
