I got this little hardcover from an online seller. It's from a series of humorous takes on books-of-advice, in the form of books for children. They pair snarky commentary with public-domain illustrations, often to hilarious effect. I even enjoyed the description in the front:

"As in the other books in this series, the large clear script, the careful choice of words, the frequent repetition and the thoughtful matching of text with pictures all enable grown-ups to think they have taught themselves to cope."

Sadly, some of the other titles referenced on the title page and back cover do not actually exist - I'd definitely pick up Setting Your Shadow Free!

I'd looked forward to this one, as "a quiet night in" is one of my favorite things - though since the pandemic has made that more of a requirement than an option, I find myself chafing a bit. But there are some amusing entries here, such as:

"As we grow older, 'fish-fingers and an early night' stops being a punishment and becomes a treat."

And next to an illustration of a couple and their kids, about to put the kids to bed for Thursday night date night:

"[The parents] will spend forty minutes going through the Netflix menu, not deciding on anything. Then they will fall asleep. It is good to have some time to yourself."

And the one about the boy who has a ton of books he's been meaning to read, so he settles in and reads for hours and hours - and then puts down his phone, realizes it's nearly bedtime, and picks up one of the books. These kids today!
