I found this softcover in this Little Free Library in Nashua NH while dropping off some books of my own, and nabbed it for another release copy.
If you haven't encountered Anne Taintor's pithy blend of '50s and '60s-era advertising photos with quirky one-liners, here's your chance. Until now these were available as individual items in a variety of formats - coasters, notepads, magnets - but I couldn't afford to buy them all and could hardly bear to choose. But now there's a book!
Even here I have trouble choosing a favorite. There's a lovely picture of a woman looking vaguely like Myrna Loy in "The Thin Man," seated comfortably with a teacup on her lap and a cigarette in one hand; the caption: "Just bring attitude." Another shows a peppy young couple; she's beaming at the camera, he's grinning at her. Caption: "He was a blues song waiting to happen." Then there's the lovely young thing lounging in bed: "She liked her men like her wines... robust, with a long finish."
But I think my personal motto from this collection might be "She liked imaginary men best of all." {grin!}
