Married at sixteen. A queen at twenty-five. Declared insane and betrayed by the men she adored. Juana "la Loca" - the last true queen of Spain. Juana - daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella and sister to Catherine of Aragon - is a woman ruled by her heart, and her arranged marriage to Philip the Fair is unexpectedly passionate and turbulent. When tragedy decimates her family and she suddenly finds herself heiress to the throne, she is plunged into a ruthless battle of ambition and treachery. The future of Spain and her own freedom are at stake...
The Last Queen is Juana's story; one of history's darkest secrets, brought vividly to life in this exhilarating novel.

An in-depth, strongly recommend historical novel about Ferdinand and Issbella of Spain's daughter, Juana.
It seems so well researched. Indeed, it took C Gortner six years of research and writing to complete this compelling novel. There is some Literary Licence, but this is totally forgivable in the search to know this largely over- looked Queen's dramatic life in this period of history.
Beautifully written and I highly recommend this work for those who enjoy historical dramas and history.
