Wild cats or feral cats live near Roxville Station. The neighborhood surrounding Roxville Station is rundown. Mike is a foster child whose foster mother is cold and selfish. He would love to have a cat but his horrible foster mother won't allow it. Mike begins to build a relationship with a young tiger cat at the station whom he names Ratchet. This book tells the story of the cats at the station. The story is sad sometimes. The author also informs the reader about the rest of the wildlife living in suburbia: foxes, owls, butterflies, snakes, raccoons, birds, etc.
