Whee! I won my favourite sweeps! I'm overjoyed, and in my head I'm already planning the upcoming weekend as a sort of comics marathon. Thank you so much for sharing this one, Abi-Gibby, and no, I haven't read it yet. I have read the novels, however, and I'm always curious about adaptations in other media, so I'll definitely get something out of the reading experience.

While the story is still very flawed, this was interesting, visually. At first glance the style of Korean artist Young Kim's artwork looks very much like manga. But the more you look at it, the more you'll see that it's much more detailled than most (run-of-the-mill) manga. And then I realised that she's playing with how to use reference photographs, and also single highlights of colour on these otherwise black and white pages. And I really liked the effects that these thechniques achieve, lending everything a complex atmosphere that pulses between dreamlike and hyperreal (considering the overall style these glimpses are embedded in). This is actually a really good mood for a vampire story. (And it might just be me, but in a lot of frames where you see Bella in 3/4 profile, her face reminded me of Buffy, especially around the mouth. Which is sort of ironic. I love Buffy, though, and have read many of the comics as well. If you don't like this one, give them a try.)
