When the Morton Grove Public Library cleans house it puts a sticker on some of its discards saying, “Enjoy and share!”, then deposits them in a book-exchange case it maintains inside the Morton Grove Metra station. This is one of them. It’s getting a BCID and will be shared once I’ve enjoyed, or at least read it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Cover says with recipes and it’s not kidding; that probably is at least one-third of the book, making it a quick read if you stick to the story. Cooks may find the copious notes on the recipes added value. I appreciate her pointing out that if you measure the flour and the shortening in the same cup in that order, the shortening is easier to extract. One review called this book the 19th “installment” in the series, perhaps a hint that a reader meeting amateur detective Hanna Swensen for the first time might feel dropped into mid-novella, sorting through characters whose backstories are common lore for those who tune in regularly. I finished Chocolate Pie but I probably won’t be ordering from Fluke’s menu again.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This book showed up again in the bookcase where I left it a year ago. I brought it home by mistake so I returned it to the Metra station to continue its travels.
