Trade paperback from the Friends of Manoa Library.
Subtitle: Rediscovering the Lost City One Step at at Time; cover art by Lisel Ashlock.
I haven't been to South America...but Bingham is definitely a familiar name.
My favorite passage:
The hike John and I had just made up and down from Llactapata—more than a vertical mile in elevation change—would have killed me two weeks earlier. Now it was just another vigorous walk. There was no question that I had taken a huge leap forward in fitness. Despite shoveling five thousand calories a day down my throat, my pants were looser. I'd reached into my back pocket that morning to find something and encountered a hard, grapefruit-like object. It was my butt.
This is my Peru read for the 2020 version of kiwiinengland's 666 challenge.

A small digression: I used a label featuring one of Jean Charlot's illustrations from ...And Now Miguel because it had a little bit of a Latinx feel - but Charlot also did the chapel doors at Punahou - many years after Hiram Bingham III was a student there. More info about those here.
