It's *actually* about the woman/girl sniper called Str(ij)ela / Arrow, not only about the Cellist -- but even more, it is about the community of people who survived the terrors of war & siege together... and the power of music over horrors.

The book is controversial in many ways, first because the author did NOT make agreements in advance with the REAL "cellist" - and later they had a court case; and second, for me personally, because I feel part of the "collective guilt" of being (by accident of fate) born "Serbian", and it was the "Serbs" who attacked Sarajevo... but this book helped me to take sides in another way: not according to arbitrary national lines, but by affinity and connection and solidarity.
