Lou Bertignac is an incredibly intelligent girl who taught herself how to read looking at the cereal packaging during breakfast. She is a girl who doesn't seem to fit anywhere - not in her old school and not in her new for-geniuses school. She is not happy there and she is not happy at home, where her family is in dissolution since the death of a new baby.

The novel begins with Mr Marin, the terrible teacher of English insisting that Lou has to choose a topic for a presentation. Lou chooses an interview with a teenage homeless girl, which startles Marin a little.

I thought that the whole novel was going to be about the preparation for this presentation, but no. The presentation takes place around page 30. And the plot evolves from there.

I'd recommend it any day. It has the right touches of touch reality and happy a-bit-random events. In spite of their wealthy lives, the two teenage characters that get involved with No have no easy lives at all.
