The Tenant of Wildfell Hall

"This is a powerful and sometimes violent novel of expectation, love, oppression, sin, religion and betrayal. It portrays the disintegration of the marriage of Helen Huntingdon, the mysterious "tenant" of the title, and her dissolute, alcoholic husband."
This was a revolutionary novel in its time, and now it resonates with us in a different way. I have read all of the Brontë sisters' novels, and even visited the Parsonage at Haworth twice, so I consider myself a fan... This novel is worth sharing with new readers.

Sent this WishList book to Motherof11, one of the winners of my 15th Bookiversary Extravaganza.
This is one of my all-time favourites. They say Anne drew from her own experiences to write this novel, her second after "Agnes Grey", and that Arthur Huntingdon is a disguised version of her brother Branwell. Thus the vivid account of alcoholism.
Thanks for helping me celebrate... and enjoy!! :)
