Easter Island

Sorry Nim your birthday present comes in late. I have this book that's on your wishlist, which I want to finish for the 666 challenge. It was a slow read, but I enjoyed it so much that I couldn't pass it on without finishing it. My apologies, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
The book follows the stories of two woman. In 1913, when Elsa Beazley's father passed away, she had to marry his colleague, a man many years her senior, to ensure that she and her mentally challenged sister were cared for. She followed her husband to the Easter Island for anthropologic research.
Sixty years later, newly widowed Greer Farraday arrives at the island from America, to research the island's botanical history as well as to escape her past.
Needless to say, by the end of the book, the two women's lives are linked together, in a most wondrous, beautiful way. The story is engaging, the characters sincere, the science tidbits intriguing, and the well-researched historical and cultural background fascinating. I thoroughly enjoy it.

Your lovely package got here safe and sound. Thank you for extending my birthday celebration!
This was such a slow moving, but beautiful story. Thank you for sending it my way Azuki, it was worth the birthday extension. Also, this was a book the universe wanted me to read as two wonderful bookcrossers each sent me a copy about eight months apart from each other.
