Found in a local LFL

It's kinda apropos that this found copy was in a somewhat warped condition, in the grungiest LFL I've ever come across. It speaks to the messiness of life in general, and American immigration stories specifically. This family hails from Greece, so the author had lots of history and fables for his fictional playground. But to couch the intersexed protagonist as the result of a genetic disorder from a long line of incest?...that may be stretching his poetic license to its perimeters.
It was very captivating writing, however.
