The title story of this book is on the 1001 list which was main reason for picking it up, although Iām not always a great lover of short stories.
I enjoyed the main story, it was incredible how subtle it is and how it draws you in, you can't help but feel sorry for her, locked in a room with yellow paper and not being believed by the people who are supposed to love and support her. Also had me worried, I see faces and shapes in things - wood grain, clouds - not come across yellow wallpaper yet so I should be ok!!
I also enjoyed the other short stories in this book, they all gave you something to think about. The only one I was not keen on was Making a Change - it started off a mother in law who was controlling and a pain then ended up all very happily ever after with her in such a short amount of time, it just rang a little untrue with me.
I particularly enjoyed Turned. - the man who got his letters mixed up. Should never have an affair it will always come back and bite you on the bum at some point!
