Romantically Disturbed: Love Poems to Rip Your Heart Out
1 journaler for this copy...
Some entries are more poignant than others; "Just One More Thing to Tell Her" has an old man sitting alone at night calling his late wife's name, "like a seance! Or a Ouija board party. But it's just the old man - it's no game". He "just sits in the gloom, in the dark of that room, and he hasn't heard anything yet." Very, very sad, that one.
There's a series of "Love is a Monster" poems, each with a different monster as theme. The Jekyll-and-Hyde one hits close to home re some real-world monsters:
the hidden place,
the mild-mannered fellow
with the secret face.
The shocking truth,
the shadowed heart,
the unseen danger,
the hidden part."
Another chiller is "The Ring", which means "forever" - and even long after the man is gone, the woman can't get the ring off of her hand...
