I got this softcover at a local Savers thrift shop. It's a collection of genealogical info, local lore, jokes, and family history, all inspired by a short document of similar material left by the author's great-great-great-grandfather-in-law (if I got the ancestry right) in 1870. (That document is included in this book.) It's a bit scattered, but has some enjoyable anecdotes and a nice overview of family history from early colonists to settlement in Franklin, Maine.

The author's tone is chatty and informal; at one point, after describing a story he'd heard about a body found hanging from a tree along Macomber Mill Road in Eastbrook, Maine, he adds "This is about all I know about this death for I lost my notes." Gotta appreciate an honest reporter!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Guidelines for safely visiting and stocking Little Free Libraries during the COVID-19 pandemic, from the LFL site here.

I left this in the amusing Little Free Library, largely because the cover image on the book bears a striking resemblance to the LFL. Hope someone enjoys it!
