I got this softcover partly for its title, and partly for the concept: an anthology of crime stories set in and around colleges and universities. Some of the stories were strongly focused on academia, while in others it was an incidental setting. Among my favorites:

Jane Hamilton's "Writing Maeve Dubinsky", which deals with plagiarism in a writing class - with some intriguing points made about basing fiction on someone's personal thoughts.

Warren Moore's "Alt-AC" has a man with a relatively narrow field of study taking some extreme steps to ensure his chances at a position.

"Noise Cancellation" by Tom Straw is another tale with a "kill the obstructive colleague" plot - though here things don't go to plan.

Peter Lovesey's "Bertie and the Boat Race" is one I'd read before, a charming little tale featuring a young Edward VIII when he was still "Bertie", the Prince of Wales; here, he mixes his fondness for yachting and for women as he untangles a mystery.

Seanan McGuire's "Foundational Education", in which the main character works very, very hard to get into her chosen college, and then to maintain her position there. At first it seems she's using lots of smarts and energy - but it seems she has another trick up her sleeve!

And the most harrowing story here, John Lescroart's "Why She Didn't Tell" - this one's a brutal account of a young woman's rape by her college mentor, showing her thoughts step by step as she grapples with her own shock, with his refusal to stop, with her fears about being believed if she speaks up... It's utterly believable and horrifying...
