I’ve been wanting to read this book for ages, finally tracked me down a (rather battered) copy on eBay. Looking forward to this.

This is the first book I’ve read and absolutely enjoyed in a long time. There is so much story in such a small book. Plenty of mystery and intrigue to keep me reading. If I could have I would have read it in one go. I didn’t realise this book wasn’t about Peter Grant which confused me momentarily (the dust jacket was missing from my copy), but I really loved the twist of being in Germany with Tobias Winter. He’s a great character, hopefully there will be a collaboration with PC Grant in the future...

Fantastic read and I thoroughly enjoyed the setting in Trier, Germany. Being German myself I enjoyed picking up the little references and thought it was very well researched. I remember Ben A asking for help and pointers from his German readers when he was writing the book and it certainly paid off having some local knowledge.
German rivers like the Mosel, the Danube, the Rhine ( where I grew up) are immensely important in German history and folklore so a lot of potential for more stories...
I also liked the characters of Tobias Winter and Vanessa Sommer and like Sharun I'm hoping for a possible collaboration with our Peter Grant.
