Tirza

This was one tough un-putdownable read. There was no one really to root for, except maybe Tirza herself (which did not bode well in the end).
Our protagonist is Tirza's father, who seems to take on uncomfortable obsessions about, and deep-dive criticisms of, everyone unlucky enough to cross his path (when he's not being an abusive bigot). This book possibly represents the worst-case scenario of the character's "white middle-class illness" epiphany, which hits him at the end of a very long-winded dinner party (but only halfway for us readers) whereby all their vile multitudes are revealed.
I think fellow fans of Herman Koch's cynical tone will enjoy, or at the very least stomach, this author's approach.
