This is not an ordinary book: it's a BookCrossing book! BookCrossing books are world travelers - they like to have adventures and make new friends...and with your help, they can even write home to say what they've been doing! (You may remain anonymous if you wish.)

Book 1 in the Interdependency Trilogy: if you've enjoyed Scalzi's works in the past, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
The Interdependency is a far-flung empire which has been ruled by the Wu family for a thousand years. It is only made possible by travel via the Flow, a little-understood phenomenon which allows relatively quick travel between known points in the universe. The empire was designed so that no system can survive on its own: each is dependent on others for necessities, and each of the noble houses has a monopoly on an essential commodity.
But massive change is coming: newly-minted Emperox Grayland II learns that the Flow streams in the Interdependency are going to collapse, and soon.
Here's another copy on my BookCrossing shelf.
