As an amateur true crime junkie, I'd never heard of this case. But what a consummate liar and narcissistic P.O.S.! After leading a double life and defrauding his loved ones out of their life savings, rather than just taking himself out, he murders his wife, 2 kids, and his parents. He has since been paroled, and is now living out his days in a Benedictine monastery.
While I'm in agreement with the journalist Martine Servandoni's assertion that he'll never have a coming-to-Jesus moment, the author did an exemplary job with philosophical pivots and conveying the aftermath of those left behind.
