Around the World in 80 Days

A solid adventure farce!
On a much smaller scale, I once took a train from Seattle to Miami, followed by a cruise, then flight home. As memorable as that was, I much prefer slow-travel nowadays (around the world in 80 years).
I'd've surely rated this higher if it wasn't for the incessant colonialist overtones so popular during the writing of this book in the 1870s (think "savages", "savage rituals", saving the "fair" skinned princess from said savages, etc). On the opposite spectrum, there seemed a battle of who was more enlightened, the Frenchman or the Englishman. I read multiple editions from different translators (the pic above is the 1988 edition which I own).
Eyerolls aside, this was a page-turner & I did not see the 300 year old "twist" coming.
