I've read this book before, but I believe it's on my friend's wishlist.

And my journal on my first copy:
Adam caught the Francophile bug at a young age, and his job has given him the opportunity to live a few years in Paris.

I usually like expat memories, to see a culture through a different set of eyes, as long as it's not egoistic and filled with complains about finding plumbers, inefficient workers and all that. This one is quite enjoyable, though not exactly memorable (at least not for me).

I didn't finish the book as I never felt being part of it. It's like an outsider reading another outsider writing about the anecdotes of what happened to him personally 20 years ago. I may be able to relate a bit more if I were an American, or I were a historian with excellent memory.

Having said that, I did learn about how Les Deux Magots and Cafe de Flore had evolved.
