I love Tove Jansson's books about Moomin trolls - as well as her other books. Ages ago, when I was living abroad, a friend used to mail me Moomin stories in English as birthday and Christmas gifts. Now I realise that I won't probably read them again in English, so it is time to send this old book to a new reader.

The book is in the post on its way to Tyrnimarja, as part of the Toivelistahippa (Finnish wishlist tag game). Enjoy!

Moominvalley in November is the ninth and final book by Tove Jansson in the novel series about the Moomins. It should be noted that the Moomin family itself is completely absent. The Moomin house is empty, the Moomin family has traveled to the island. Fillyjonk, the Hemulen, Grandpa-Grumble, Toft, Mymble and Snufkin move in. The main characters' common denominator is that they have lost something; their future, their identity, their freedom or worldview.
November's landscape and darkness are in line with themes of aging and resignation and the longing for what one has lost. The novel is in fact most suitable for an adult reader. It is melancholy and gloomy but warm and wise like everything Tove Jansson wrote.

The book was meant to be just in transit, but I couldn't help reading it once more. Thanks again, Tyrnis!

Tove Jansson’s writing is so wise and the illustrations so fitting and gorgeous in their simplicity.

I’m hanging onto this one to read again. Would love to also read the earlier books if I can find any.
