This arrived in the rather drizzly Alps, purchased from bookdepository as I despaired of being able to mooch this series.
I don't know if it's me or what, but I've found these books very unequal. Some I've slogged through, some I've enjoyed much more.
Here I again had difficulty accepting the heroine's recklessness, in this case mainly her insisting on returning again and again to The Reynolds gaming house. Her other nighttime visits were also highly questionable, but I suppose they were considered indispensable for the steam factor.
Paul, the hero, is nicely complex, but I found it hard to sink into this story as too many things rendered the whole brittle.

This has now left central France with a bevy of travelling companions, heading to Massachusetts, courtesy of bookmooch.
Enjoy!
