A man lies in a coma after a near-fatal accident. His body broken, his memory vanished, he finds himself in the surreal world of the bridge - a world free of the usual constraints of time and space, a world where dream and fantasy, past and future fuse. Who is this man? Where is he? Is he more dead than alive? Or has he never been so alive before?

Arrived safely with a lovely card. Many thanks.
A complex story interweaving several layers; reality; a private fantasy world, which dream-like has an intermittent yet repetitive structure; complex anxiety dreams; and a primitive world of fable and language. The imagery subtlely crosses over from one world into the other and all the strands merge towards the end. I had trouble getting into the book at first because of its surrealism, but it was worth persisting. I have given it 9 stars for technical merit but would drop this several stars if assessed on enjoyment alone.
