This was found by a friend at a local thrift shop when I was looking for a comfy chair. Found the chair but no way to get it home (too big for the vehicles available). The book was the right size, though, and it came home with me.
Most of it is pretty decent, although it was clearly not written by a lawyer because of a few nitpicky issues I found. Also not written by a mental health professional for other less nitpicky issues. Some of these are quite amusing -- I always have thought Prince Charming had a foot fetish, and I was not surprised that not all of the couples actually lived Happily Ever After.

Thank you for sending this book my way, 6of8! I always enjoy fairy tale retellings, even though they can be a mixed bag.

Maybe this would be funnier to folks with more of a legal background, but for me it never really moved beyond "mildly amusing" and I was hoping for more detailed stories/cases instead of a couple pages each. I had to push myself to keep going, and read most of it on a lunch break with nothing better to do.

Maybe it will be better for the next reader!

I'm claiming this little hardcover from the Otherworldly bookbox. I like reimaginings of fairy tales - though not all of them are equally effective; will see how this one goes!

I found the selection a bit uneven - my least favorites were the ones that were heavy with legal verbiage, as they just weren't that much fun to read even if the gist was amusing. The ones I did like:

USA V. Wolf: while this one was also framed as a deposition, the content was a series of questions from the court to Mr. Wolf, with Wolf's delightfully evasive and affronted responses as to why his good-natured attempts to help the three Little-Piggs with their construction problems. It was of course not his fault if they ignored his advice about building materials, or misconstrued his attempts to safety-check their work... This one was my favorite in the book.

KINGDOM V. GOLDILOCKS: In this one, a (rather shady from the sound of it) defense attorney tries to break down the Kingdom's case against Goldilocks by a disturbingly believable series of slams on the evidence, the character of the victims, and more. In the context of the book it was rather amusing, and I could see it as a set piece in Jasper Fforde's "Nursery Crimes" novels (though his The Fourth Bear took a much more entertaining twist on the same fairy tale).

[Among my favorite fairytale-retelling/reimagining books is Story Hour by Sara Henderson Hay, featuring poems based on the various tales - usually with rather dark twists, and one or two with legal/court-case aspects.]
