The office jobsworth closes down a murder case because the weather's too hot to be bothered with anything and because he doesn't need to look beyond his prejudices at the illegal immigrant. But then Commissario Brunetti doggedly swims against the tide of petty office politics, nepotism or who you know in public office, and the general mindset of turning a blind eye and looking out for number one.
