I found this hardcover in this new Little Free Library in Bedford NH while dropping off some books of my own. It's a novel set in post-WWII Barbados, and deals with the history of one woman - and of the island culture as well - as she gives a rambling confession to a grisly crime, committed with the hoe of the title. Did the victim deserve it? I admit I got a bit lost in the ramblings early on, but even then it seemed pretty clear that appalling crimes were being committed against the local people, especially the women, on an ongoing basis; whether that justifies her actions is something the reader can decide.

I left this book in the Little Free Library near the CGS, while checking out the expanded outdoor seating for the restaurants on Main Street. Hope someone enjoys the book!
