Redeeming qualities:
A closer look at Maria's Law, aka secure-your-load. Strapping down your haul is just common sense, but it seems to always take devastating incidents followed by criminalizing negligent behavior for it to matter.

Maria's mother is definitely someone you'd want in your corner, but I got the sense that she didn't really know her daughter. Come to find out Maria later wrote her own book, distancing herself from her mother's public policy brigades & returning the focus to her ongoing recovery and necessary strength in living a normal life. They have since had a falling out. This is not to take away from the importance of this book; it is, however, dated & not as raw.
