Found this from the exchange shelf of the Library of Tapiola, which I visited today for the first time - and took 16 books! A lovely shelf!

Before Christmas Callahans went to mall and left their dog Santa Paws to wait in their car. When they come back, Santa Paws is gone. Callahans, their friends and local police start a search, but they can’t find anything. Mean while Santa Paws is kidnapped in a strange car. He manages to escape in New York City and begins his long journey to home. On his way he keeps rescuing people and finds a new friend.
I'm a little surprised at how well these naive stories can entertain an adult. Perhaps it’s Christmas theme or an inner urge or need to believe in the good:)
