I got this hardcover from Better World Books. Subtitled "an illustrated love letter to the five burroughs", it features charming illustrations from around New York City, with commentary on everything from what out-of-staters think of the city to the author's own family members' recollections of their immigration. What happens if you drop something on the subway tracks, a section on "lesser-recognized under-appreciated buildings of Manhattan", offbeat discoveries like the tugboat graveyard, the "Ode to the Bodega", and much more... made me recall past visits and hope for future ones. (The end-notes include the names and addresses of businesses and cultural sites mentioned in the text.)

I'm sending this to my sister in New York, in hopes that the family will enjoy it!
