I got this at the free books board in front of Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien when I went there to release a few books.
I am always trying to read a little more what in school was called Weltliteratur, so I thought, I´ll give this one a try. At first I was a little irritated by the style, I must have read no Hemingway for ages. And I did not get it at all at school what they meant with the Hemingway style (it must have seemed natural at that age), but now I see what a scandal it must have been back then.
I found the story a little strange, but maybe that's the realistic effect (like in real life it is never a proper story, but strange things happening before even stranger things and then suddenly normal life again and no logic to it). Well if I see it that way, it is really good: episodes with totally different atmospheres connected just because it is how it is.

Of professional interest was the part in the hospital, great description of the basic problem of professionalism in medicine.
