This is not an ordinary book: it's a BookCrossing book! BookCrossing books are world travelers - they like to have adventures and make new friends...and with your help, they can even write home to say what they've been doing! (You may remain anonymous if you wish.)

Thank you for this wishlist book, hyphen8! It will be interesting to read during the current political climate and with the state of the U.S. right now.

Interesting. Found Dr. Gertrude Himmelfarb’s introduction quite illuminating. A story based on Mill and his wife’s life, love, marriage, and work would be worth a read!

Released this book and two others into the Little Free Library at a small strip mall in Union Hall. There used to be a BB&T bank located here but it seems all shops and business are gone.

I also picked up a memoir and a book of poetry by a local author.

Published in 1859, John Stuart Mill's On Liberty presented one of the most eloquent defenses of individual freedom in nineteenth-century social and political philosophy and is today perhaps the most widely-read liberal argument in support of the value of liberty. Mill's passionate advocacy of spontaneity, individuality, and diversity, along with his contempt for compulsory uniformity and the despotism of popular opinion, has attracted both admiration and condemnation.
