Oh how i love maeve binchy....this one is about the "poor girl" who falls in love with the doctor's son. has all of binchy's fun characters and interesting plot twists.

This is the first Maeve Binchy book I've read that I really didn't like. I think there might have been too much going on in my life this week. I'm not sure exactly what I didn't like about it. I did have a hard time following it. I've loved other Binchy books, though, so maybe this was just not one that grabbed me. I will keep the book moving and mail it out on Friday.

I'm so glad I had the chance to read this book. This was one title I had missed when I was on my Binchy binge. I just love her descriptive style of settings and characters. I fell in love with Clare, her determination amazed me. I don't want to spoil anything, so I will not share my thoughts about the ending. I know I held the book too long. I got in over my head with rings. I passed a lot of them on without reading them, but I couldn't let this one pass. Sending on to stardustnf asap! Thanks so much for sharing!

Sorry it took me so long to journal it; I read the book and, although it wasn't one of her stories I enjoyed best, I loved the way Maeve Binchy wrote it, how she describes settings and characters and situations. It'll be off to Elsita as soon as I get her address.

im sorry surfenkitten. i really tried to get into this, but i kept putting it down to read something else and found that i couldnt pick it up again. i have so much to read at the moment as well. i find maeve binchy a bit of a hard author as in, some books you love and cant put down, but others (such as her latest - nights of rain and stars) you just cant get into.
