A collection of short stories which all revolve around a midwestern small town in Illinois. The setting is the summer of 1928. The stories are told through the eyes of a 12 year old boy, Douglas Spaulding.

The writing style took a bit to get used to, but I've grown to like it. The language is sometimes flowery/philosophic.

This book was written in a very philosophic manner. Once your brain gets on the same track of thinking as the author's, you will probably enjoy this book.
