This is a small publication by the Doris Day Animal League, founded in 1987. Our animals - our pets - are precious creatures to be cherished, protected and valued for the perfect beings they are.

This book was donated to Nina's Book Nook Little Free Library by a user of the library. I am now adding it to a Nonfiction Book Box and will be sending it on to the next recipient.

I browsed through this book on a couple occasions, and don't think I'm likely to read it cover-to-cover. It's an odd little book! I'm very unsure who the target audience is, and the level of detail varies wildly from one section to another. The advice varies between impressively ahead of its time (mostly in positively-based training advice) and harmlessly oddball. (Are there really so many dogs injuring themselves by chewing on a metal bowl that no one should use them? I think I've seen more dogs break the ceramic ones suggested as the "safer" option!)

This is the sort of book where I end up wondering more about the publishing history than anything else. Who pitched it? Who where they selling it to?
