This is a fantasy novel set in the WWII Nazi regime. A young girl in a small village meets a wandering magician who forecasts gloom and doom. The local Rabbi says that the village is safe. Then the Nazis come. The young girl return to her village after surviving the concentration camp, and witnesses a showdown between the magician and the Rabbi. A really interesting and unique bit of Holocaust literature.
