I found this book in this Little Free Library in Merrimack NH, after seeing a note in this book's JEs - the finder's late mother-in-law had wanted her own books distributed to LFLs, and the finder invited me to pick some up for BookCrossing. I left a note in the LFL to let the finder know, as they hadn't created a BC account yet; will move this book along in memory of a fellow book-lover from San Diego CA!

I originally read this book when it was among the selections for a monthly book group. It's a novelized look at the lives of Anne Morrow and her famous husband Charles Lindbergh. (I'd enjoyed Benjamin's The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb, based on a less-well-known historical figure.)

This was OK, but I preferred the Mrs. Tom Thumb book; this one featured characters whose lives were much better known to me, hence fewer surprises - and, for me anyway, some frustration with the author's choices of character interpretation. There were lots of good scenes, though, including the early days of Charles and Anne's relationship, especially when they could fly together - and the horrifying scenes of swarming press and curious bystanders after the kidnapping and death of their first child.

And, as I learned from the book-group discussion, the book can inform people who didn't know as much about the lives of the Lindberghs.

[A previous book club selection was Bill Bryson's One Summer: America, 1927, which included quite a lot about Lindbergh's famous flight and his subsequent trials re the press.]
